Shoplifting in India.

                                    shoplifting in India.

We are surprised to know that the shrinkage amount to Rs. 3470 crore occurred in India due to shoplifting in 2011. This shows that on the grand scale the shoplifting is going on despite electronic security tags attached with the commodity which set the alarms for the exit point of the mall. It is a matter of concern why & how the thieves succeed in their mission to tear off the security tags. According to the GRTB (Global Retail Theft Barometre) India retained its unreliable account topping of the list of 43 countries in last five years. Each year departmental store or shopping mall spend huge amount on equipment, staff & on training to lessen the shoplifting. But nothing could be achieved fruitful in this regards. In this background the honest customers & retailers should work together with the intent to subject the shoplifter to shame. It has been observed that personal care product like razors, fairness creams, deo dorants and sunscreen lotions are mini & simple to conceal items for which professional thieves which come in the group with the intention to dodge the staff.

To curb this menace, we should ensure our active participation in it to detect the people involved in shoplifting & report the matter to the concerned quickly. The activities of shoplifting must be lampooned at all levels so that children must be raised up with right values. A stolen thing even for the smallest amount must also be discouraged so that greed for obtaining the goods without paying may not creep into the mind of younger generation. This is one kind of theft which is a crime punishable under the IPC but another kind of pilferage is also prevailing & rampant in the society for which there is no written law in the books of law. It has been observed that the people adorning the high offices abundantly & frequently misuse his power & position to obtain the goods & services without paying the amount to the concerned person. They think that the passive & reluctant consent of the concerned person hold them deserving for availing this facility. If the Almighty has given us power & position then we should work for upholding the rule of law & righteousness.

Declining sex ratio & feticide in various parts of country.

Declining sex ratio & feticide in various parts of country.

The people who do not want baby girl are indeed bankrupt in their mentality & approach. If we go to the root of the matter we find that conservative section of society think that the baby girl will bring the financial burden to them so they don’t hesitate to resort even the illegal method of feticide & infanticide which is a utter shame & disgrace to them. Trauma of a woman can be judged through their experience & statements which make them sick to give birth of a girl in a society where son is considered everything & daughter is not welcomed. Killing of female foetus is certainly a social crime which has far reaching effect on society resulting in decreasing sex ratio that leads to increase in crimes against woman. Only in Kerla, we take solace that the woman enjoys the high status where the feticide & infanticide is not a problem. Sex ratio in kerla about 1000 boys, 1084 girls are born average. Rest of the states of India the sex ratio is 940. It is very horrifying situation in Haryana where sex ratio has now come to 877, which expose that feticide & infanticide is so rampant in that state. When the law is quite clear against the feticide then why this illegal sex determination is thriving in the various parts of the country with the help of the scanning & ultra sound machine which is available with the greedy doctors who use it to fill their coffers.

Govt should conduct the raid or sting operation where such illegal practices are going on. Under these circumstances it has become necessary to monitor the activities of pre-natal diagnostic centres, genetic clinics, genetic counselling centres, genetic laboratories, ultrasound clinics, and imaging centres to prevent female feticide. Unfortunately the functioning of the above centres is not being properly watched, supervised by the authorities under the PNDT ACT.

It is wrong notion that such types of practices are only common in uneducated & poor segment of society. On the contrary this evil or malaise is also found in the affluent class where a person like doctor herself had to undergo two times for abortions as her husband who is lawyer too mount pressure on her to give birth a son. This shows that this is a social problem & mindset of the people & she says that it is bitter truth of our society from which even the elite class is not free from it. To curb the sex determination cases State Govt should make the vigilance committee to check the illegal practices just to nab the culprits found guilty of violating the law.

Public should know that the Govt has earmarked toll free number 104 for the complaint of sex determination test. A registered medical practitioner or any other person involved in this illegal practices  can be punished for 3 years of imprisonment and fined up to 10000/- For subsequent offences the punishment can go up 50000/ or 1 lac & imprisonment up to 5 years.

Necessity of Strong FIR.

Have you ever thought that why the culprits of rape usually go scot free in the court cases. In most of the rape cases conviction could not be possible for want of lodging of strong FIR & timely forensic investigation. If the society really want the justice to the rape victims & have the solidarity with them , then they should come forward at the time of crime whenever & wherever the same is committed. They should mount the pressure in support of the victim to the concerned police station to lodge the FIR in time & as per the ditto narration of the victim.
It has been observed that conviction rate of rape cases are very low because of faulty FIR. To ensure the faster conviction of the rapist, the correct narration by complainant required to be mentioned in the FIR. So that victim cannot be denied the justice. Besides this, legal expert free services must be provided to help the victim to write the proper FIR at the time of lodging of the same (the FIR). So that culprit cannot get the benefit of technical lapses usually found in the FIR which make the case weak & become the cause of justice denied to the rape victim.

Crime against woman.

Various crimes against woman are being reported daily & frequently in the media. The community of woman irrespective of their caste, creeds and age is now passing through terror filled days wherein her dignity and honour is in peril. This kind of gender terrorism is spreading its tentacles & becoming the synonym of victimization of woman which often leads to the violent death of victim. Like other... forms of terrorism ,gender assaults too are crimes against humanity which needs to be curbed with the public awareness & media support. The reign of terror must be abolished by making amendments in the criminal law procedures & Indian penal codes for harsher punishment to the perpetrators of such kinds of heinous crimes. Offences like voyeurism, stalking and public disrobing of woman must be resisted & fought collectively at all levels to restore the sense of security among woman.

Greed of a doctor.

Simple stomach ache prompted the patient to seek the treatment from the doctor but the doctor suggested for the hysterectomy. The greed of doctor reminds the system to be strengthened.

Misuse of red beacon.

Has the red beacon atop the vehicle not become the symbol of absurd display of power being enjoyed by the politicians & other functionaries for which they are not entitled as per Central Motor vehicles Rules 1989. Public should know that only 27 categories of public functionaries have been permitted to use the red beacon while on duty. Public should also aware that no one misuses his power or position to show off his/her status by flouting the rules. If anybody is found illegally using the red beacon, then it should be brought to the notice to the concerned authority.
